‘What would Jenny do?’
Many of us draw inspiration from people we admire and respect. No matter where they come from, by and large, we admire and respect them for their demeanour, presence, can-do attitude and compassion. Sometimes we even adopt their mantras in order to give ourselves the confidence to have a go at things. A mantra that we use at HEAL is ‘Stop- Breathe -Connect’ and many of our clients have adopted it as their own.
However, the other day one of clients told us that they had adopted the mantra ‘What would Jenny do?’ Jenny is our imperious mare, leader of our small herd and an incredible role model with her calm, unflustered manner.
Clients admire the way Jenny manages her personal presence. She has a quiet power that reassures without overwhelming. She moves with purpose and direction. She sends the rest of the herd clear signals of her intentions. Some of our clients see this as an inspiration on how to communicate to others. ‘How to be clear about what I need without being aggressive’.
And yet for all this latent power and purpose, Jenny is quietly sensitive and caring. She accepts approaches from people in a non-judgemental manner and will stand patiently, holding a safe space for them to reflect on their feelings and emotions.
So next time you need to ground yourself and face into something hard- Try to – ‘Stop-Breathe -Connect’ and ask yourself – ‘What would Jenny do?’
