RED
We’ve waited a few weeks before writing this. Weeks that have been spent mourning the loss of Red – our beautiful friend.
Red came to us 3 years ago. He was a Project Hope horse. We don’t know his exact history, but we are aware that whatever happened to him in the past left him traumatised. Project Hope had done a wonderful job on rebuilding his physical and emotional wellbeing. Even so when he arrived with us, he was still quite traumatised and very unsure of himself.
Over the 3 years he spent with us in his ‘Forever Home’ – Red grew to be a much-loved member of the team. Red was a strikingly handsome lad- physically powerful but gentle. He was incredibly sensitive and worked well with people who have experienced trauma. He’d let people stand in the space with him as if he was saying, ‘don’t worry , I’ve got you’.
Red passed peacefully after a 24 hour fight with Colic- during which we were by his side. The vets who came to see him were kind and compassionate. Our property is Red’s Forever Home and he is laid to rest with a beautiful view of our dam.
Red meant so much to so many. He brought comfort to others and he was much loved. We’ll leave the final words to Tayla –
I am so sorry to hear what happened to your beautiful boy. From a past that he never deserved, to a place filled with all the love he deserved, even after having his trust broken, he trusted you guys. He taught me how to trust again and a whole lot more. Colic took him too early. Hugs from here xx Rest easy, golden boy 🧡💛
