Building powerful connections.

equine-therapy-in-victoriaWith Spring slowly making an appearance, we’ve been pleased to welcome groups back to H.E.A.L.

There’s something quite special about working with groups and seeing how the power of shared experience heightens the connection people feel to the horses and to each other.

As people disembark from the bus – the first thing they inevitably notice is the tranquillity of the property. Many just walk to the paddock fence to soak in the view, the silence and of course the horses.

As people engage with the horses ( often for the first time)  we notice how they embrace their vulnerability in doing something that they don’t really know or understand. People move from apprehensive on-lookers to active participants. Feedback often tells us just how accepting the horses are and for many in the groups we work with – acceptance in life is a rare or non- existent theme.  As they share experiences with the horses- so the group share their thoughts and feelings.

As the group work together and introduce themselves to the horses, we see how mutual support and encouragement helps the more apprehensive or reserved become confident to physically engage. Over a couple of hours, people become less a bunch of individuals and move to being  a connected group- strengthening bonds to each other.
