Breathe in the Great Outdoors
There’s a danger that the recent burst of continuing dry, sunny weather will lure us into a false sense of never- ending autumn.
In the last month our clients have revelled in the stillness, warmth and the chorus of birdsong.
A client said to us the other day- ‘Just being here is like a warm bath for my soul’. And right now, with everything that’s going on around us, don’t we all need a bit of that self-comfort?
Equine-assisted learning (EAL) helps individuals develop self-soothing strategies by providing an accepting and peaceful environment where they can learn to manage their emotions and respond to stressors in a positive manner.
With the recent warm weather we’ve observed our clients taking a bit more time and slowing their pace as they soak up the environment. When client and horse achieve a shared energy level, through standing, stroking, brushing and walking, the session takes on a meditative feeling. We’ve observed clients matching their breathing to the horses and really focusing on our favourite mantra- STOP- BREATHE- CONNECT.
We know the great autumn weather wont last forever, but we hope that the lessons and experiences our clients are having will.
